We are thrilled to be offering another season of Winter CSA! A share will include a mix of crops grown in our three unheated hoop houses and stored in our "root cellar" like coolers.
Here’s a list of the vegetables we expect to have in the winter share: lettuce, carrots, beets, spinach, rutabaga, parsnips, potatoes, brussels sprouts, purple daikon, onions, leeks, garlic, tatsoi, sweet potatoes, winter squash, kale, cilantro, turnips, shallots, bok choy, baby salad mixes, arugula, watermelon radishes, micro greens, pea shoots. You can scroll down for photos from last year’s share!
This year our winter share will begin in November, and go for 7 weeks until the week before Christmas. We will then take two weeks off for the holidays and new year, picking back up for 4 pick ups in January and February. Our January and February shares will be double the amount of goodies and half the amount of pick up days. Transitioning to an every other week pick up in January and February gives us a bigger harvest window for picking greens (spinach, kale, etc.), since greens can't be harvested when frozen. This pick up schedule will also simplify things, giving us all a bit more of a winter break. Since most of our winter food will be stored in our coolers, we figured we might as well send a double share home with you to keep for that second week!
We are offering a Tuesday pickup in Rockford and Belding as well as a Wednesday pickup in Grand Rapids, all from 4:30pm-6:00pm.
The cost is $375.
In case you are confused about the pickup days, I’ve included them below to mark on your calendars:
November 5th/6th, November 12th/13th, November 19th/20th, November 26th/27th, December 3rd/54th, December 10th/11th, December 17th/18th, January 7th/8th, January 21st/22nd, February 4th/5th, February 18th/19th.
